What does digital Abitur marking mean?
Students write their exams on paper as usual. The papers are then scanned and marked, graded and archived digitally by the teachers. With Q-Exam® from IQUL, this entire process runs in the browser.
Does anything change for students?
No. They write their Abitur on paper just as before. Only the marking is done digitally.
How do the papers get into the system?
The school scans the papers with standard scanners and uploads them to Q-Exam® via a secure channel. A code on the cover sheet assigns each scan. The originals remain at the school.
Can handwritten papers be marked well on screen?
Yes. Teachers see the original handwriting as a scan and place their correction marks directly on it, using a mouse, pen or keyboard. The marking scheme and written assessment are shown alongside.
Is marking anonymous?
Yes. The papers appear without names. Only the performance counts, and nobody is graded better or worse because of prejudice or personal sympathy. In addition, the second marker does not see the first assessment.
How do first and second marking work?
The system distributes the marking automatically, also to other schools if required. The second marker sees the paper without a name and without the first assessment. If there are larger discrepancies, a third marking follows. The rules for this are based on the requirements of your federal state.
Do teachers need special devices?
No. Marking takes place in the browser on a PC, laptop or tablet.
Does digital Abitur marking work in every federal state?
Yes. With IQUL, marking procedures, grade calculation, roles and permissions can be configured according to the Abitur regulations and requirements of your federal state. This applies to centrally set exams as well as to tasks set by individual schools.
Is digital Abitur marking legally compliant?
Yes. Every marking step is logged, the scans cannot be altered once released, and the papers are archived in an audit-proof manner. More on this: Legally compliant digital exams. In the event of appeals, every assessment can be traced.
Are you familiar with how schools work?
Yes. IQUL's team includes colleagues with many years of teaching experience at schools and universities. They know exams and marking procedures from their own practice. IQUL has been running digital multiple marking in regular operation for years, including for the state law examinations and the tax advisor examinations.
Do you also develop custom solutions for a federal state?
Yes. IQUL designs and develops software according to your requirements, connects your systems and hands over the source code. The software runs on your platform or is operated by IQUL.
Can the solution be connected to our school administration system?
Yes. IQUL imports teacher and student data and returns the results, via interfaces or by file.
Where is the data stored?
In the EU, in compliance with the GDPR. All steps are logged and the papers are archived in an audit-proof manner.
How do we get started?
With a conversation about your processes. Afterwards, we plan a pilot together with individual subjects or schools.
