Tax Advisor Examination 2026: Halfway Point in Ten Federal States
From 6 to 8 October 2026, prospective tax advisors are sitting their written examination – for the first time also electronically in ten federal states, with technology and software from IQUL. Today marks the halfway point.
Three days, six hours each: since yesterday, around 2,400 prospective tax advisors have been taking their written examination with IQUL. This year, for the first time, the examination can also be taken electronically in ten federal states. Today, the second exam day, marks the halfway point.
IQUL provides the exam laptops and the exam software and supports the examinations with its own on-site teams. The subsequent electronic marking also runs on IQUL software. The exam tasks, assessment and marking remain the responsibility of the chambers of tax advisors.
The examination takes place at 13 locations, some of them unusual: at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, the exam desks stand right next to the running track of the sports and event hall. In Wetzlar, candidates from Hesse are writing their exams in the Buderus Arena, which usually hosts handball matches.
The regional news site mittelhessen.de reports on the examination in Wetzlar: 550 candidates from all over Hesse are taking part there, 290 of whom have opted for the electronic version. "For the first time, we are offering our candidates the option of writing on a laptop instead of by hand," Manuela Schwoy, Managing Director of the Chamber of Tax Advisors in Hesse, is quoted as saying. And further: "Should there be any technical problems, the laptop can be replaced within seconds without the answer being lost."

The third and final exam day follows on Thursday. IQUL wishes all candidates every success.
