This year’s ATP Innovations in Testing 2026 took place in New Orleans. We were there with a team of five employees. The ATP provided a comprehensive overview of current developments in the international assessment landscape. The conference brought together test providers, certification organizations, universities, psychometrics experts, and technology companies, facilitating an intensive professional exchange.
The program covered key areas of modern testing ecosystems. Among other topics, the focus was on:
- Test Development & Psychometrics
- Test Security and Fraud Prevention
- Accessibility & Inclusion
- Test Delivery & Administration
- Strategic and Regulatory Issues
Numerous sessions discussed advancements in test evaluation as well as approaches to quality assurance.
Our team found the comparison of different market conditions and implementation strategies particularly interesting. While some countries pilot and roll out new technologies very quickly, other markets—especially in regulated environments—are more heavily influenced by legal frameworks, data protection requirements, and institutional structures.
Artificial intelligence was even more prominent this year than in previous years—especially as a topic of application in individual sessions and case studies. Discussions focused on specific use cases as well as organizational and regulatory frameworks. At the same time, it became clear that maturity, acceptance, and implementation dynamics vary significantly across the globe.
ATP 2026 once again demonstrated how diverse and dynamic the assessment landscape is becoming. For us, the conference provided valuable insights into international trends, technological developments, and strategic issues, and thus important impetus for the further development of digital exams in the national context.
